BoingBoing does Latin Music

Filed under: Music — ealing @ 12:24 pm

BoingBoing mentions a couple of tracks on Swapatorium today. I'd never heard of Swapatorium, but if it has chacha and mambo, I'm interested.

I haven't listened to the tracks yet, so I don't know if they're as "great" as the article claims. I'll put my opinion here later.

  1. I just listened. “Great” in the Kitsch-listening stakes, tolerable in the dancing stakes. Early, now cheesy, works from two of the greats, IMO.

  2. Well, I've listened to them now.

Sin Pensar en Ti does nothing for me. Ven Bernabe sounds nice enough, but on first listen it seems like it's at that awkward pace of too fast for chacha and too slow for mambo.

  3. It might be the mysterious “Guajira” or “Gauracha” that Terrence has been alluding to on the salsa chatrooms
