Sometimes you can’t Ask Tom.
If you work with Oracle a lot, you probably know about Ask Tom, Tom Kyte’s help site for the Oracle DBMS. It’s hosted by Oracle itself, and of course, it runs on Oracle technologies.
A couple of weeks ago, a Friday I think, I was either stuck on something or distracted, so I turned to the Ask Tom site. Lo and behold, it was knackered:
I guess they do all of their logging to a table or set of tables, and it hadn’t been given sufficient space to grow into.
There is an obvious lesson here – no matter how good your technology is, or how familiar you are with it, it will not save you from your own disorganisation.
