A one night trip to a Latin Motion event on Saturday night was extended at the weekend to get to Gary Thomas’ social on Sunday.
Digress, the Saturday venue, was hot and crowded, with music that wasn’t always to my taste. Still, I must have been in a good mood, as I had a great time, even after being left standing on the floor by one partner.
The Sunday venue, in a dance school, was a little different. Dance studios are great, for obvious reasons, but they don’t exactly have bags of atmosphere. The music was just right, though, and although the “crowd” was rather sparse there were some fun dancers there.
Plus, Birmingham has this odd German market in the city centre. Despite my initial scepticism, and the tonnes of Bratwurst failing to appeal to my vegeterian self, I liked it a lot. One of the stalls there served an excellent mulled-wine type drink, served very hot, and with rum instead of brandy. Very good!
